What's happening this term
TERM 3
Nursery
Our theme is Nursery Rhymes.
We will be focusing on one Nursery Rhyme a week and will be creating lots of big art to create our Nursery Rhyme land display in our room. We will be retelling the rhymes using different props such as story stones, sequencing cards and objects from the rhymes. We will also be thinking about how some of the characters feel in the rhymes and talk about our own feelings too. The children will be creating some small crafts to bring home. We will be focusing on prepositions and encouraging the children to use words such as on, under, in and next to when describing where an object is. We will be continuing to support the children with their cutting skills this term.
Our hotspot for Nursery this term is still ‘I can share and take turns whilst playing with my friends’. We will be continuing to support the children with this during this term.
Pre-School
Our theme is Weather.
The children will be learning about different types of weather that we experience in our country. We will also be looking at different countries around the world and what the weather is like for the people and animals that live there. We will be thinking about the best types of clothes to wear in each weather type too. We will begin to learn our letter sounds in phonics and will be starting to practice writing some of those that we have learnt already, remembering to use our froggy fingers! Each week we will be learning a new shape, describing them, searching for these shapes in our environment and making pictures using all the different shapes. Please encourage your children to search for shapes at home.
The hotspot for Pre-school will be “I understand the word ‘no’ and the boundaries it sets for behaviour. I know the words ‘no’ and ‘stop’ keeps me safe and can prevent danger.
